What is a Magnetic tape storage?

Magnetic storage had started in the 1950s where the data was being recorded on strips of specific metal plates such as nickel and bronzer. Nowadays, the magnetic tape storage is being done on polyester coated film with oxides of chromium oxide or similar. This medium of storage changed the way future storage was developed. Over the time, storage mediums kept on changing drastically and hence the concept of cloud came in.

However, the only drawback in this medium of storage was the lack of reliability and the risk involved. A tiny glitch in the process, or due to a virus, precious data could easily be lost without any backup. This is where magnetic storage becomes critical. These threats posed to the data could also be internal such as sabotage or due to equipment damage. In this case, it is very crucial to have a backup plan in order to keep data safe which could be any form of data such as emails, record copies etc.
